As detailed in Policy 1240, academic programs may request supplemental funding for external individual predoctoral fellowships that meet the following criteria: (1) the fellowship stipend is equal to or greater than the campus minimum rate for a 33% research assistantship, and (2) the fellowship is administered through the university. Programs may request support for resident tuition, the Office of the Registrar document fee, and fringe benefits not covered by the fellowship. Please note that supplemental funding cannot be used for stipend supplementation.
Use this form to request supplemental funding for eligible external predoctoral fellowships per Policy 1240.
Eligibility
Only fellowships meeting the stipend threshold and administered by the university qualify.
Submission
Must be submitted by the DGS or graduate program coordinator/manager, with DGS approval. Student/Advisors submissions are not accepted.
Deadline
Submit at least three weeks before the fellowship start date.
Multi-Year Fellowships
A new request is required each year.
Attachments
Include:
- Fellowship award letter
- Completed budget form
- Department chair statement (if requesting over one-third of total shortfall)
- Description of program’s financial support during fellowship
Funding Limits
- Stipend supplementation not covered
- The Graduate School may fund up to one-third of total shortfall (subject to funding availability)
- Additional funding requires justification and is not guaranteed
